Fireplace
Don't settle for basic builder's grade when you can make a statement with our quality fireplaces, inserts, and gas logs.

Nobody leaves the fire first.

Understand the options
Six ways to put fire in a room.
Fireplaces differ less in looks than in what they need from the house — a flue, a gas line, a power outlet, a hearth. Here's how the types compare before you fall for one.
- Gas fireplaces
- Instant fire on a switch or remote, with no wood to buy or ash to carry. Sealed direct-vent models can go on almost any exterior wall and put nearly all their heat back into the room.
- Wood-burning fireplaces
- The real thing — crack, smell and radiant heat. Needs a proper flue and a place to keep dry wood, and rewards you with the fire nobody walks away from.
- Fireplace inserts
- The fix for an existing masonry fireplace that loses more heat than it gives. A gas or wood insert drops into the old firebox and turns a draft into a heat source.
- Outdoor fireplaces
- Built into stone or delivered as a finished unit, sized for the patio rather than the living room. This is what keeps the backyard in use through October and November.
- Linear fireplaces
- A long, low ribbon of flame with no visible logs — set into tile, stone or plaster. Reads as architecture, and works beautifully under a mounted television.
- Traditional fireplaces
- Classic proportions, a raised hearth, a real mantel, and gas logs detailed closely enough to pass for oak. The choice when the room is period-correct.
